since 1973. From the beginning, Germantown Vision Care Center has offered only the highest standards of quality and individualized attention in a professional atmosphere.
Dr. Blake Schermer grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Inspired by his hometown optometrist, he began his path in optometry by obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Ohio University, graduating cum laude in 2006. He then completed his Doctor of Optometry from the prestigious The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2010.
Dr. Schermer practiced in Cincinnati, Ohio, for two years before moving to Washington, D.C., in 2013. He brings over 11 years of diverse experience practicing in a boutique optical, ophthalmology clinics, and private optometry practices.
In addition to providing comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, Dr. Schermer's clinical interests include the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease He also has a passion for myopia management and fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with keratoconus and irregular corneas.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Schermer enjoys hiking, cooking, live music, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Alan Levy, O.D.
Dr. Levy started the practice in 1973. After nearly 50 years of practice, Dr. Levy retired in 2021. He is enjoying retirement with the opportunity to spend more time with family and pursue his hobbies.
A.G. Wood, Master Optician
A.G. brings nearly 40 years of opticianry expetise to Germantown Vision Care Center. A.G. grew up in an eyecare practice, as his mother was an optometrist in Washington, D.C., for many years. He is an expert at fitting complex glasses prescriptions, finding the perfect frame fit, and repairing/adjusting frames.
